Indications

Who Is Egg Donation For?

Donor egg IVF may be recommended when a patient's own eggs cannot be used due to medical reasons. The most common indications include:
  • Age-related decline in egg quality — natural reduction in ovarian reserve and egg quality after 41-42, resulting in failed fertilization, poor blastulation (the inability of fertilized embryos to develop into blastocysts) and abnormalities in DNA.
  • Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) — loss of normal ovarian function before the age of 40, with no viable eggs available for retrieval.
  • Repeated IVF failure — multiple unsuccessful embryo transfers after IVF with own eggs despite good embryo quality, normal PGT-A results and regular uterine condition.
  • Recurrent miscarriage related to oocyte quality — a pattern of early pregnancy loss attributable to chromosomal abnormalities in the eggs.
  • Genetic indications — hereditary conditions where using a donor's eggs significantly reduces the risk of passing on genetic disorders to the child.
  • Absence of ovaries — surgical removal or congenital absence of the ovaries.
If you are unsure whether egg donation is the right path for you, our fertility specialists will review your medical history and suggest the most appropriate protocol.

Step by Step

How Egg Donation IVF Works in Russia

Medical Review and Free Online Consultation

Your submitted medical form, test results and reports are reviewed by an NGC fertility specialist remotely. Once your treatment program passes medical clearance, our doctor meets with you on Zoom to answer your questions.

Donor Selection

You receive access to NGC's verified donor database. Each profile includes physical characteristics, medical background, education, personal statement, and photos. Depending on the program, adult photos and non-anonymous profiles may be available. Our coordinators assist you at every stage of selection.

Appointment and Sperm Freezing

You and your partner attend the clinic for 1 day in order to meet your fertility doctor, pass laboratory tests, deposit sperm samples, and sign a contract.

Donor Stimulation and Egg Retrieval

The donor undergoes controlled ovarian stimulation under close medical supervision. Egg retrieval is performed under short anaesthesia at our St. Petersburg clinic. All procedures are carried out by NGC's experienced reproductive team.

Fertilization and Embryo Culture

Retrieved eggs are fertilized using ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection). Embryos are cultured in NGC's Time-lapse incubator, which allows continuous monitoring without disturbance. This maximizes embryo quality and selection accuracy.

PGT-A and Embryo Freezing (if applicable)

If the program includes PGT-A, embryo biopsies are taken on day 5–6 prior to vitrification. The samples are analyzed in NGC's in-house genetics laboratory without outsourcing. Only chromosomally normal (euploid) embryos are selected for transfer. Additional PGT-A testing can be requested for any embryo in the cohort at a later stage. Since genetic analysis is performed on cryopreserved biopsy samples, further testing can be initiated without requiring additional embryological procedures.

Recipient Preparation

Your uterus is prepared for embryo transfer using an estrogen and progesterone protocol. Endometrial thickness and development are monitored by ultrasound. This phase typically takes 3–4 weeks and can be partially managed with your local doctor.

Embryo Transfer

One embryo is transferred into the uterine cavity in a simple, pain-free procedure. No anaesthesia is required. You can usually return to your hotel or accommodation the same day. The transfer is performed under ultrasound guidance.

Pregnancy Test and Follow-up

A blood hCG test is performed 10–12 days after transfer. If the result is positive, the first ultrasound is scheduled at 5–6 weeks of gestation. NGC's team provides follow-up recommendations and, if needed, coordinates with your local obstetrician.

Safety & Expertise

Donor Screening and Genetic Safety

Every egg donor at NGC undergoes a rigorous multi-stage screening process before being accepted into the program. Screening is conducted in compliance with Russian federal law on ART and NGC's internal protocols, which exceed standard requirements.

Medical Screening

  • General health examination by an internist
  • Gynecological examination and pelvic ultrasound
  • Ovarian reserve assessment (antral follicle count)
  • Hormonal panel (AMH, FSH)
  • Blood type and Rh-factor confirmation
  • HIV 1/2, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and C, Rubella (IgG)
  • Chlamydia, mycolplasma, gonorrhoeae, trichomonas

Genetic Screening

  • Karyotype analysis (chromosome count and structure)
  • Expanded carrier screening for hereditary conditions
  • Testing performed in NGC's in-house genetics laboratory
  • Genetic counseling session with NGC's geneticist

Psychological and Addiction Review

  • Psychological interview with a licensed specialist (psychiatrist)
  • Assessment of emotional stability and voluntariness of participation
  • Confirmation that the donor fully understands the procedure and its implications
  • Assesment by a certified addiction specialist to rule out drug use
Legal & Ethical Context

Anonymous and Non-anonymous Egg Donation in Russia

Russia is one of the few countries where both anonymous and non-anonymous egg donation are legally permitted — making it an accessible destination for international patients from countries where donation is restricted or unavailable.
  • Is egg donation legal in Russia?
Yes. Egg donation is fully legal and regulated in the Russian Federation under Federal Law No. 323-FZ and Ministry of Health Order No. 803n. Both anonymous and non-anonymous formats are permitted. Russia is one of the few countries in Europe where egg donation is available without restrictions on patient nationality, marital status, or age.
  • What is anonymous donation?
In anonymous donation, the donor's identity is not disclosed to the intended parents, and the intended parents' identities are not disclosed to the donor. The child born as a result of an anonymous donation has no legal right to access the donor's identity. This is the standard format in most IVF clinics in Russia.
  • What is non-anonymous donation?
Non-anonymous donation is a format in which the donor has given informed consent to disclose her identity. At NGC, many donors in our database will agree to provide their identity information to the child born with their help. This will allow the child to access their donor's personal information upon reaching adulthood.
  • What information is available to intended parents?
In all programs, intended parents receive full medical and personal profiles, including health history, genetic screening results, physical description, education, and personal statement. In non-anonymous programs, the donor's name and additional identifying information are also provided, subject to the donor's consent.
  • What information may be available to the child?
In anonymous donation programs, no identifying information about the donor is available to the child under Russian law. In non-anonymous programs, the child may, upon reaching the legal age of adulthood, be provided with the donor's identity in accordance with the terms agreed at the time of donation.
  • Why does this matter for international patients?
Many patients from Western Europe, Australia, and North America come from countries where non-anonymous donation is the legal norm and where children have the right to know their genetic origin. NGC's non-anonymous program makes it possible to pursue treatment in Russia while maintaining the same ethical standards they would expect at home.
  • How does it technically work?
After you select a donor, our coordinators will contact them to complete the required consent forms for future identity disclosure. All signed documentation is securely stored in our clinic’s archives. If you proceed with a non-anonymous donor through NGC, your child will have the right to contact the clinic and request the donor’s personal information once they turn 18.
NGC Non-anonymous Program
NGC is one of the few clinics in Russia offering a genuine non-anonymous egg donation option, where the donor has agreed to disclose her identity. This option is particularly important for patients from the UK, Germany, Netherlands, Australia, and Canada where open donation is the standard.

Our Advantages

Why Choose NGC
for Egg Donation in Russia?

The Largest Donor Database in Russia

NGC maintains a database of over 600 genetically screened donors — one of the largest in the country. All profiles are verified, regularly updated, and include detailed medical and personal information.

Adult Photos Available

Unlike most clinics in Russia, NGC provides adult photos for selected donors upon request. This helps intended parents make a more informed and confident selection.

Non-anonymous Donation

NGC is one of the few clinics in Russia offering a non-anonymous egg donation option, where the donor agrees to disclose her identity. This option is particularly important for patients from countries where open donation is the standard.

In-house Genetics Laboratory

All genetic testing — karyotyping, carrier screening, PGT-A — is performed in NGC's own genetics laboratory in St. Petersburg. No outsourcing. Full quality control. Faster results.

PGT-A and Guaranteed Programs

NGC offers programs with preimplantation genetic testing (PGT-A) and clinical pregnancy guarantees. Designed for patients who want maximum certainty and the shared risk approach to treatment.

Time-Lapse Embryo Monitoring

Embryos are cultured in time-lapse incubators (EmbryoScope™), which allow continuous monitoring without opening the chamber. This maintains a stable environment, protecting the embryos from temperature and gas fluctuations while supporting optimal development.

International Patient Support

Our dedicated international patient team provides end-to-end support: medical coordination, visa assistance, accommodation recommendations, transport, and interpreter services if needed.

Experienced Fertility Specialists

NGC's reproductive endocrinologists have extensive experience in complex ART cases, including repeated IVF failure, poor ovarian response, and advanced maternal age.

What Our Patients Say

I really appreciate the impeccable and professional treatment I got from the kind and wonderful patient coordinator, Alex and Dr Diana! Both of them were always very hopeful about my case, and they answered very rapidly when I had any questions, which always made me feel comfortable and secure during the whole process. After several failed attempts at other clinics, I got pregnant successfully after the first attempt here! The clinic is very welcoming, and everything is of a high standard. I highly recommend this clinic. Many thanks for all your help!

I had an excellent experience with NGC Clinic. From the initial communication with Dr. Diana and Alex to my arrival at the airport — everything was perfectly organised. Despite arriving at midnight, I was warmly welcomed and taken care of immediately.

At the clinic, I never had to wait for an appointment. The atmosphere was calm, private, and very well-structured. Dr. Diana is a true professional — attentive, kind, and highly experienced. The entire staff was courteous, supportive, and genuinely caring.

The clinic offers a high level of comfort, discretion, and efficiency. I felt safe, respected, and fully supported throughout my treatment. I highly recommend NGC to anyone looking for personalised and professional care.

I struggled with infertility for 17 years and went through many attempts to become a mother, including 17 unsuccessful IVF cycles at different clinics in Serbia and the Czech Republic. I never became pregnant, nor did I ever achieve a positive beta result. Eventually, I had given up, as I was already in my forties, which at that time felt too late for me.

Then I discovered the Next Generation Clinic (NGC), and I decided to try with them. My experience was wonderful—and successful on the very first attempt.

From the very first contact with the coordinator, Alex, everything was simple and clear. Alex provided me with all the necessary information even before my first consultation with Dr. Diana, which was scheduled very quickly. To me, it all felt like a dream.

After the consultation, we went to the clinic, and everything went exactly as they had explained—without waiting or confusion. I always received answers to all my questions throughout the entire procedure. The clinic was very responsible; they even organised taxi transportation from the airport to the clinic for every arrival and departure. They also recommended hotels nearby, since I am from Serbia and it was my first time travelling to Russia.

For anything I needed during my stay, I could always ask Alex and receive clear explanations. Dr. Diana was very kind, positive, and supportive. They truly gave me incredible support throughout the whole process.

And finally, the most important thing that happened after everything: for the first time after so many failures, my beta was positive. I will never forget that moment in my life. As I write this, I am 16 weeks pregnant with a healthy and progressing pregnancy.

Alex, Dr. Diana, and the NGC clinic made it possible for me to fulfil my greatest wish. They continue to support me throughout my pregnancy. I hope that we will all celebrate together when our baby is born.

Thank you to these wonderful people and to the NGC clinic.

After several unsuccessful treatments in Greece and Ukraine (donor sperm, own egg IVF), I came across NGC positive reviews while searching online. I was really desperate as 5 years passed and I was still in the same place. I had my doubts at the beginning (mostly related to the international situation and the military conflict), but I can say now that this was the best that happened to me in the last 10 years. My leading doctor (Dr V) was amazing and very patient answering questions and advising on outcomes (first meeting was via Zoom). The whole team was highly professional, but it was my coordinator who helped most. He helped with all admin/ forms to complete, logistics for travel and was just there for me any time of day for reassurance. Upon arrival at the clinic, I found the clinic premises to be clean, technologically advanced and highly professional. My coordinator (A.) was already waiting for me, asking questions about the hotel and the journey. After years of wasting my money and - more importantly - my precious biological time, I finally found the clinic that really cared. NGC is the clinic you need if you seriously want to be a parent. Shortly after the visit, I discovered I am pregnant. After an easy, normal pregnancy, I am a mother now to a healthy, happy and beautiful baby. (treatment: sperm and egg donation)

We had a really great experience with the donor program and got results on the very first try - healthy embryos, and one of them is already our son. All our wishes were taken into account, and we really appreciated the support during the more sensitive parts of choosing a donor. Alexander’s coordination was amazing. The lab is very impressive. Unlike other clinics we’ve been to, they don’t push unnecessary procedures — they just focus on what actually works. And for us, it worked the first time. We’re really looking forward to coming back for the next child.

We had various medical treatments without any success in our country, so we decided our only option left was to have IVF with an egg donor. To be able to choose the donor by ourselves, based on pictures, in a big European database was very important for us. The staff, receptionists, translators, medical professors were first-class. The clinic helped us to organize all that we required for the travel, which took the stress away and supported us for the time we spent there. The clinic was clean, well-organized, and modern. In conclusion, we had an enjoyable stay in St Petersburg, a warm welcome from the staff of the clinic, and the most important, the success with the pregnancy. So we highly recommend this clinic!

I'm writing this review with the most precious gift in my arms, my much longed for baby girl, who was born in March of this year, thanks to the wonderful treatment and care that I received from the team at NGC. For the first time during my years of treatments I felt that I was really being listened to and my concerns being addressed. No stone was left unturned! I found the clinic to be impressive and immaculate and so much more modern and advanced than previous clinics I had been treated at in the UK. I fell pregnant that first cycle and was over the moon. I will forever be so very grateful for the care and support received at NGC and I simply can't recommend them enough!

When we wanted a sibling for our daughter we turned to NGC in St.-Petersburg. Alex from NGC was very helpful in providing us with information, egg donors, pricing and logistics. He set us up with Dr Valentina Denisova who gave us an hour of her time and explained and advised us on the medical possibilities, requirements and procedures of the NGC via video conference. We welcomed our healthy, hungry, noisy son on our 1st try with NGC and recommend them highly. We are very impressed with and are extremely thankful to the NGC doctors, staff and coordinators, their new facilities, the customer care and coordination and of course our all success!

The communication (in perfect English, as we unfortunately don't speak Russian) has always been prompt and reliable, thanks to fantastic Alex who has been helpful all along. Dr Valentina Denisova and the embryology team have done an excellent job. I got pregnant following the first embryo transfer, we are grateful!

Replies within the hour! Dr Valentina was very reassuring when I become anxious or I had any sort of worries/concerns, she always put me at ease answering any questions I may of had. "All in all, an exceptional experience."
After we had experiences with fertility clinics in three different countries in Europe (two of them in the EU), we chose Next Generation Clinic (NGC) in St. Petersburg, Russia. Our choice was initially based on the fact that they offer a large database of donors. Donors are often already genetically screened, and the process of getting the biological material is significantly easier than in other places.

We were really satisfied with the treatment, and support. The response time is very short and communication is easy, professional and to the point. Whenever we travelled to St. Petersburg, the clinic organized our transportation to and from the airport at their expense and helped us with the best money exchange place. The clinic offered great care and a personalized treatment plan that was well-rooted in the care of the patient in the first place. We are planning to go for a second child since we are currently pregnant with a girl and we are hoping for a boy as well.

    Questions & Answers

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is egg donation legal in Russia?

Can I choose my donor myself?

Yes. You will receive access to NGC's donor database and can browse profiles at your own pace. Profiles include medical information, physical characteristics, education, personal statement, and photos. Our coordinators are available to help you narrow your selection.

Are adult photos of donors available?

Yes, for selected donors. Adult photographs are available upon request and are one of NGC's key differentiators. Child photos are included in all profiles as standard.

    Is non-anonymous egg donation available?

Yes. NGC offers non-anonymous donation where the donor has given informed consent to disclose her identity to the child upon reaching adulthood. Please note: This option is available for a specific segment of our donor pool and requires individual confirmation.

How much does egg donation in Russia cost?

The cost varies depending on the program selected, testing options, and individual circumstances. Fresh, frozen, individual, PGT-A, and guaranteed programs are available at different price points. Please contact us for a detailed, itemized quote based on your specific situation.

How long do I need to stay in Russia?

For a fresh donor egg cycle, the recipient typically needs to be in St. Petersburg for 1 day for sperm collection, and then for 4–5 days around the frozen embryo transfer date. Our team will provide a precise timeline and preparation protocol.

Is PGT-A available with donor egg programs?

Yes. We have specifically designed our packages to make PGT-A an affordable and seamless add-on. All genetic testing is performed in NGC's in-house genetics laboratory. PGT-A significantly improves the chances of a successful pregnancy by selecting only chromosomally normal embryos for transfer.

Can I preserve embryos for a sibling program?

Yes. If the donor retrieval produces more embryos than needed for the first transfer, surplus euploid embryos can be vitrified and stored at NGC for future use. This approach is particularly cost-effective in individual donation programs, where all retrieved eggs belong to one recipient.

What is included in the package price?

The standard package typically includes donor management (stimulation, monitoring, egg retrieval), ICSI fertilization, embryo culture in a time-lapse incubator, embryo cryopreservation, recipient preparation, and embryo transfer. Genetic testing (NGS / PGT), thawing and storage (1 year) are included by default in the packages with PGT-A. A full itemized quote is provided upon request.

    What guarantees are available?

NGC offers programs with a clinical pregnancy guarantee, meaning that if a clinical pregnancy is not achieved within the agreed number of transfer attempts, the program fee is fully refunded according to the terms. The access to the guarantee depends on your individual medical situation. Details are confirmed during the consultation stage.
