TRAVEL SUPPORT

In the current situation, we receive many questions on how to get to St. Petersburg and how to pay for treatment and daily expenses.

Let’s proceed with the core steps and aspects

VISA

Do I need a visa to Russia? Check with us as the answer depends on your citizenship

Having a Russian visa is mandatory for the majority of our patients
(for example, those who come from the EU, US and Great Britain must have a visa)

How to receive visa support from the clinic?

Option 1: Apply for business visa support from the clinic

  • Time needed to receive a visa - 5-6 weeks
  • Visa type – ordinary business visa issued for treatment
  • Visa duration – 90 days, 2 entries
  • Steps:
    1. Confirm the dates of your visit and be offered visa support
    2. Please fill out the questionnaire, provide the copy of your passport and travel insurance covering unpredicted expenses to initiate the submission of required documentation

Please wait until the preparation of a special invitation from the Ministry of Internal Affairs is completed.

We are at your disposal in case you need any help with purchasing the insurance covering trips to Russia.

    3. The invitation will become ready in 4 weeks (20 working days) and be sent to you by email, making you eligible to receive a business visa on medical grounds. A copy of invitation letter will also appear in the consulate’s digital system.
    4. Submit your online application on the Russian consular department’s webpage

Book an appointment at the Russian consulate.

Please make sure that you have all the documents prepared according to the Consulate’s requirements before the visit.

You will be invited to return and collect your passport within 7-10 days

Option 2: Apply for a tourist visa

Tourist trips to Russia are fully allowed. Everyone can come to the city of St. Petersburg to enjoy its sights and nightlife, as well as do shopping
  • Time needed to receive a visa – 1-2 weeks
  • Visa type – tourist visa
  • Visa duration – 30 days maximum (suitable for short trips)
  • Steps:
  1. Purchase a tourist voucher and travel insurance online.
Important: tourist voucher is not a visa; it is confirmation of your intention to make a tourist trip to Russia, issued by a tourist agency.
The purpose of your visit is tourism, as declared in the tourist voucher
  2. Submit your online application on the Russian consular department’s webpage
  3. Book an appointment and visit the Russian consulate.
Please make sure that you have all the documents prepared according to the Consulate’s requirements for tourist visas before the visit.
You will be invited to return and collect your passport within 7-10 days

Payment options
You can pay for your treatment in 2 ways: by making a SWIFT bank transfer or in cash (RUR).
Unfortunately, foreign bank cards (Visa, MasterCard, AMEX etc.) currently don’t work in Russia.
You will not be able to buy food and drinks, as well as do shopping using your bank card.
Luckily, one can easily exchange more than 30 foreign currencies at favorable rates in the city.
The limit of cash money one can bring in Russia is 10 000 USD. The exceeding amounts must be declared at the border.
You can pay for your stay online by making a booking on Zenhotels or Ostrovok websites.
Both platforms have nicely done English versions, an ability to choose the preferred currency, flexible cancellation policies and other handy features.
Their quality is on par with other booking websites, such as Booking and Airbnb (those currently have no presence in Russia).
