Ri Witness
RI Winess is an electronic surveillance system designed to monitor and control all activities in the embryology laboratory. The main goal of integrating RI Witness into the work of an IVF clinic is to eliminate human error when embryologists work with patients’ biomaterial.

RI WITNESS
SYSTEM FEATURES
-
Automatic recording and logging of all events 24/7
-
Continuous tracking of all procedures at each IVF workstation
-
No room for human error. It eliminates any mismatch and inconsistencies in sample identification
-
Standardization and streamlining of work protocols
-
Fully safe. The radio frequency identification (RFID) system used in RI Witness is harmless. Each set of consumables undergoes special testing
HOW DOES
THIS SYSTEM WORK?
-
Each patient is assigned an identification card with a personal number — ID
-
The culture dish containing the patient’s biomaterial is also marked with tags that match the patient’s ID
-
Each workstation in embryology reads these tags
-
RI Witness matches the tag on the culture dish with the patient’s ID and greenlights further manipulations
-
If the tag on the culture dish and the patient’s ID do not match, and alarm goes off and the work is suspended
-
Before transferring, the patient’s ID is automatically checked against the marked culture dish
HOW IS AN ERROR
PREVENTED?
Every time a RFID-tagged culture dish comes into the reader's field of view, the information is automatically identified and compared with the database.
If dishes containing biomaterial from different patients get scanned simultaneously, an alarm signal is issued – further work is impossible until all reasons are clarified.
HOW TO CONTROL
BIOMATERIAL MOVEMENT
WITHOUT RI WITNESS SYSTEM?
In less-equipped laboratories where the RI Witness system is not installed, a dual control system is used instead. During each embryological stage, two specialists check and compare the patients' data in manual mode. This type of control over the movement of biomaterial, of course, minimizes the risk of human error, but does not eliminate it - unlike the RI Witness system.
RFID tags are passive and do not emit radiation, as proven by testing on mice embryos.
