Diagnostics Before Infertility Treatment
NGC does not recommend a treatment protocol until the cause of infertility is evaluated. Every patient undergoes an individualised diagnostic workup — many components of which can be arranged at home before your first visit.
-
Review of Previous Medical Records
Your existing test results, previous IVF reports, imaging and surgical history are reviewed by an NGC fertility specialist remotely before any additional testing is recommended.
-
Online Consultation with a Fertility Specialist
A video consultation allows the doctor to assess your situation, answer your questions, and outline the diagnostic or treatment pathway. This can be completed before traveling to St. Petersburg.
-
Female Fertility Assessment
Hormonal panel (AMH, FSH, LH, estradiol, prolactin), pelvic ultrasound with antral follicle count, and assessment of uterine cavity and tubes where indicated.
-
Male Fertility Assessment / Semen Analysis
Standard semen analysis and, where required, extended sperm testing including DNA fragmentation, morphology assessment, and andrological consultation.
-
Infectious Disease Screening
Standard pre-IVF panel including HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B and C, and relevant sexually transmitted infections — required for both partners before treatment.
-
Genetic Testing (if indicated)
Karyotype analysis, carrier screening, or other genetic testing where a hereditary factor is suspected or confirmed. Performed in NGC's in-house genetics laboratory.
-
Individual Treatment Plan and Timing
Based on all available data, the fertility specialist prepares a written treatment plan including recommended protocol, program options, expected timeline, and cost estimate.
Many diagnostic steps can be completed at home before your trip to St. Petersburg. Hormone tests, semen analysis, and standard screening can be done at your local clinic and sent to NGC for review. Your NGC coordinator will guide you through exactly which tests are needed and which can be done locally. This reduces the time required at the clinic and allows treatment to start sooner after arrival.
Infertility Treatment Options at NGC
Choose from a range of ART methods designed to match your medical situation and treatment goals. Not sure which option is right for you? Our coordinators will help you select the appropriate protocol based on your medical history and diagnosis.
IVF with Own Eggs
Controlled ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, fertilisation in the laboratory, and embryo transfer. Can be combined with ICSI and PGT-A.
IVF with ICSI
A single sperm is injected directly into each mature egg. Significantly improves fertilisation outcomes when sperm quality is compromised.
IVF with PGT-A
Embryos are tested for chromosomal abnormalities before transfer. Only euploid embryos are transferred, improving implantation success.
Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET)
Thawing and transfer of previously vitrified embryos. Shorter protocol, no stimulation required, flexible start date.
Sperm Donation
IVF or IUI using donor sperm from NGC's cryobank. Donors are genetically screened and profiled. Non-anonymous donation available.
Embryo Donation
IVF using a donor embryo from NGC's verified embryo bank. Includes PGT-A tested embryo options and guarantee programs.
Egg Donation
IVF using eggs from a verified donor. NGC maintains a database of 600+ screened donors with full profiles and adult photos available.
IVM (In Vitro Maturation)
Immature eggs are retrieved and matured in the laboratory before fertilisation. Reduces stimulation medication and associated risks.
Fertility Preservation
Cryopreservation of eggs, sperm, or embryos before cancer treatment, for age-related reasons, or future family planning.
Guarantee Packages
Multiple IVF or embryo transfer attempts combined into a single package with a clinical pregnancy guarantee and partial or full refund terms.
IVF and ICSI: Core Treatment Pathway
Every donor embryo at NGC originates from donors who have passed rigorous multi-stage screening, and is then assessed at the laboratory level. Both donor screening and embryo evaluation comply with Russian federal law on ART and NGC's internal protocols, which exceed standard requirements.
Medical Review and Treatment Planning
Review of diagnostic results, selection of stimulation protocol, and preparation of an individualised treatment plan with the fertility specialist.
Ovarian Stimulation
Controlled stimulation using hormone injections over 10–14 days. Follicle growth is monitored by ultrasound. Minimal and natural protocols are available where indicated.
Egg Retrieval
Transvaginal ultrasound-guided egg collection under short anaesthesia. The procedure takes approximately 15–20 minutes and is performed at NGC's clinic in St. Petersburg.
Sperm Preparation or Surgical Sperm Retrieval
Fresh or frozen sperm is prepared on the day of retrieval. If azoospermia or surgical retrieval is required, TESA, TESE, MESA, or PESA is performed.
Fertilisation: IVF or ICSI
Eggs are fertilised in the embryology laboratory. IVF uses conventional insemination; ICSI involves direct injection of a single sperm into each mature egg — recommended for male factor infertility.
Embryo Culture
Fertilised eggs develop in NGC's time-lapse incubators (EmbryoScope™), allowing continuous monitoring without opening the chamber. Embryo quality is assessed daily.
PGT-A (if indicated)
On day 5–6, trophectoderm biopsy is taken from each blastocyst and analysed in NGC's in-house genetics laboratory. Only chromosomally normal (euploid) embryos are selected for transfer.
Fresh Transfer or Embryo Vitrification
The best quality embryo(s) may be transferred fresh, or all embryos are vitrified for a frozen transfer in a subsequent cycle — particularly following PGT-A testing.
Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET)
The uterine lining is prepared using an estrogen and progesterone protocol. One euploid embryo is transferred under ultrasound guidance in a simple, pain-free procedure.
Pregnancy Test and Follow-up
A blood hCG test is performed 10–12 days after transfer. If positive, the first ultrasound is scheduled at 5–6 weeks. NGC coordinates ongoing follow-up with your local obstetrician.
Note on ICSI and PGT-A: ICSI is recommended when male factor infertility is present or when previous IVF cycles showed poor fertilisation results. PGT-A is recommended for patients over 37, those with a history of repeated IVF failure, recurrent pregnancy loss, or known genetic indications. Both procedures are available as part of standard or guarantee programs at NGC.
PGT-A and Genetic Safety
Preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidies (PGT-A) is a method of chromosome analysis performed on embryos before transfer. It identifies chromosomally normal embryos, improving the chance of successful implantation and reducing the risk of miscarriage.
When PGT-A May Be Recommended
-
Advanced maternal age (35+ and especially 38+), where chromosomal abnormalities in embryos are significantly more common
-
Repeated IVF failures — multiple unsuccessful transfers despite good embryo quality
-
Recurrent miscarriage — a pattern of early pregnancy loss, particularly when linked to embryo chromosomal status
-
Severe male factor infertility, which may be associated with higher rates of chromosomal abnormalities in sperm
-
Known genetic disease or chromosomal translocation in one or both partners
-
Unexplained infertility with a history of implantation failure
-
Wish to transfer a single embryo with maximum certainty of euploidy
All genetic testing at NGC — including karyotyping, expanded carrier screening, and PGT-A — is performed in NGC's own genetics laboratory in St. Petersburg. There is no outsourcing to third-party laboratories.
PGT-A at NGC analyses all 23 pairs of chromosomes using next-generation sequencing (NGS). Biopsy samples from cryopreserved embryos can be analysed at a later stage, meaning PGT-A can be initiated without additional embryological procedures.
In-house testing ensures full quality control, consistent methodology, and faster turnaround on results — typically within 7–10 working days.

NGC is one of the few clinics in Russia offering genuine non-anonymous egg donation, where the donor has agreed to disclose her identity. This option is especially important for patients from the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Australia, and Canada, where open donation is the standard. The child may access the donor's personal information upon reaching adulthood.
All donors at NGC complete a rigorous multi-stage screening process including general health examination, hormonal and ovarian reserve assessment, karyotype analysis, expanded carrier screening for hereditary conditions, infectious disease panel, and psychological interview. Genetic counselling sessions are available for intended parents on request.
Male Infertility Treatment at NGC
Infertility is not exclusively a female issue. Male factor infertility is identified in approximately 40–50% of cases. NGC offers a full range of diagnostic and treatment services for male infertility, integrated into the couple's overall treatment plan.
-
Semen Analysis and Andrology Consultation
Standard spermogram, extended sperm analysis including DNA fragmentation index, and consultation with an andrologist to interpret results and recommend treatment.
-
ICSI for Male Factor Infertility
Intracytoplasmic sperm injection allows fertilisation even with severely reduced sperm quality. A single viable sperm is injected into each mature egg under microscopic guidance.
-
TESA — Testicular Sperm Aspiration
Fine needle aspiration of sperm directly from the testis. Used when sperm is absent in the ejaculate but present in testicular tissue. Minimal procedure, outpatient setting.
-
TESE — Testicular Sperm Extraction
Surgical extraction of sperm from testicular tissue. Used in cases of non-obstructive azoospermia. Performed under anaesthesia with microscopic assistance where indicated.
-
MESA — Microsurgical Epididymal Sperm Aspiration
Collection of sperm from the epididymis using microsurgical technique. Used in obstructive azoospermia, including post-vasectomy cases.
-
PESA — Percutaneous Epididymal Sperm Aspiration
Minimally invasive aspiration of sperm from the epididymis using a fine needle. Alternative to MESA in suitable cases of obstructive azoospermia.
Sperm Cryopreservation
Sperm retrieved surgically or produced at the time of the female partner's egg retrieval can be cryopreserved for use in current or future IVF cycles. This is particularly relevant for international patients who cannot guarantee simultaneous attendance at the clinic.
Donor Sperm Option
When surgical retrieval is not possible or does not yield viable sperm, donor sperm from NGC's cryobank can be used as an alternative. This option is discussed with both partners at the treatment planning stage.
NGC's andrology laboratory is equipped for all standard and surgical sperm retrieval procedures. Sperm obtained by TESA, TESE, MESA, or PESA can be used fresh for ICSI on the same day or cryopreserved for a future cycle.

What Our Patients Say
I really appreciate the impeccable and professional treatment I got from the kind and wonderful patient coordinator, Alex and Dr Diana! Both of them were always very hopeful about my case, and they answered very rapidly when I had any questions, which always made me feel comfortable and secure during the whole process. After several failed attempts at other clinics, I got pregnant successfully after the first attempt here!
We would like to express our immense gratitude to the entire team at the NGC clinic for their high level of professionalism and incredible support at every stage of our journey. We were absolutely delighted with the quality of care and the level of service provided.
I had an excellent experience with NGC Clinic. From the initial communication with Dr. Diana and Alex to my arrival at the airport — everything was perfectly organised. Despite arriving at midnight, I was warmly welcomed and taken care of immediately. At the clinic, I never had to wait for an appointment. The atmosphere was calm, private, and very well-structured.
I struggled with infertility for 17 years and went through many attempts to become a mother, including 17 unsuccessful IVF cycles at different clinics in Serbia and the Czech Republic. I never became pregnant, nor did I ever achieve a positive beta result. Eventually, I had given up, as I was already in my forties, which at that time felt too late for me. Then I discovered the Next Generation Clinic (NGC), and I decided to try with them.
After several unsuccessful treatments in Greece and Ukraine (donor sperm, own egg IVF), I came across NGC positive reviews while searching online. I was really desperate as 5 years passed and I was still in the same place. I had my doubts at the beginning (mostly related to the international situation and the military conflict), but I can say now that this was the best that happened to me in the last 10 years.
We had a really great experience with the donor program and got results on the very first try - healthy embryos, and one of them is already our son. All our wishes were taken into account, and we really appreciated the support during the more sensitive parts of choosing a donor. Alexander’s coordination was amazing. The lab is very impressive.
Superb Clinic and great services by all staff. Very friendly approach and professionalism to the smallest details. I am grateful to Dr Diana Lobzeva, who did my treatment for IVF and made me feel comfortable, and was so supportive of us. She speaks perfect English, and she is a doctor, very well trained and great as a Surgeon Gynaecologist as well. I felt no pain at all during the procedure!
We had various medical treatments without any success in our country, so we decided our only option left was to have IVF with an egg donor. To be able to choose the donor by ourselves, based on pictures, in a big European database was very important for us. The staff, receptionists, translators, medical professors were first-class.
I'm writing this review with the most precious gift in my arms, my much longed for baby girl, who was born in March of this year, thanks to the wonderful treatment and care that I received from the team at NGC. For the first time during my years of treatments I felt that I was really being listened to and my concerns being addressed. No stone was left unturned!
When we wanted a sibling for our daughter we turned to NGC in St.-Petersburg. Alex from NGC was very helpful in providing us with information, egg donors, pricing and logistics. He set us up with Dr Valentina Denisova who gave us an hour of her time and explained and advised us on the medical possibilities, requirements and procedures of the NGC via video conference.
I couldn't recommend Next Generation Clinic more! The facilities are state-of-the-art and every member of staff has been polite and professional. The communication (in perfect English, as we unfortunately don't speak Russian) has always been prompt and reliable, thanks to fantastic Alex who has been helpful all along. Dr Valentina Denisova and the embryology team have done an excellent job. I got pregnant following the first embryo transfer, we are grateful!
Firstly I would like to thank Alex and Dr Valentina for the level of care and compassion shown to me throughout our IVF journey. The communication and response time was second to none. Replies within the hour! Dr Valentina was very reassuring when I become anxious or I had any sort of worries/concerns, she always put me at ease answering any questions I may of had.
We are so thankful for everything. This is our 1st IVF, and we are glad it was successful. God bless you all!
We had directly a good feeling when talking to the international manager of NGC who was very helpful, reliable and fast to answer any question we would have. I gave birth in spring 2022 to a healthy baby. This pregnancy and birth happened thanks to NGC, and we are really grateful to them. We would certainly recommend NGC.
We travelled from Ireland to have our IVF treatment in 2022, and I am pleased to say that it was a fantastic experience. The team at NGC clinic provided exceptional care and attention. The doctors and staff were all incredibly knowledgeable and supportive throughout the entire process. I felt comfortable and informed at all times. The facilities and equipment at NGC clinic are top-notch, and I felt confident that I was in good hands.
Best clinic ever, dreams come true here. If you want to achieve the result at your first attempt, this is where you should go. The doctors were absolutely amazing, Ksenia and Alexander were simply the best. Everyone is always willing to help and answer all your questions. The staff controls everything to make your journey smooth and productive.
"All in all, an exceptional experience." After we had experiences with fertility clinics in three different countries in Europe (two of them in the EU), we chose Next Generation Clinic (NGC) in St. Petersburg, Russia. Our choice was initially based on the fact that they offer a large database of donors. Donors are often already genetically screened, and the process of getting the biological material is significantly easier than in other places.
Frequently Asked Questions
The cost depends on the program selected (frozen, PGT-A, or guaranteed), the number of transfer attempts included, and additional services such as extended storage. Please contact us for a detailed, itemized quote based on your specific situation.
For a frozen embryo transfer, the typical stay in St. Petersburg is 4–5 days around the transfer itself. Endometrial preparation can be managed partially with your local doctor. Our coordinators will provide a precise timeline after reviewing your protocol.
